Today I took the first class in an intro to flame working series. We learned how to turn on the torches, blow a hole in the glass tubes, connect tubes together, and blow into the blow rod to extend the bubble in the glass.
Today was class #2. We practiced what we learned from class #1 and also learned how to apply colored dots to our glass vessels, melt the dots in, and finish the vessels.
Here is my first finished small vessel glass piece. It is super lumpy and not very symmetrical, but at least it didn't break.
Today was the third class in the series. It was frustrating because my glass kept cracking, and eventually one of my pieces completely fell of the blow tube and broke. However, it was really cool to learn the glass blowing process and it gave me an appreciation of the patience and skills necessary for making glass vessels.
