Swimming-Inspired Textile Design
Here is a collection of hand-dyed swimming-inspired textiles and the process book documenting the research, fabric tests, and techniques used. The motifs are based on swimming pool tiles, symbols such as the "T" on the bottom of the pool and the "+" target on the wall, and water. The color palette and textures are inspired by water.
I dyed these textile with fiber-reactive dyes that I mixed to create specific colors. I used tape and potato dextrin as resists to create designs. I also made stamps for some of the motifs, and created others through patchwork, embroidery, and beading.
