Ties, Dyes, and Tie-Dye Summer 2021 Collection
This casual summer collection includes clothes with ties, natural dyes, and tie-dye techniques. I sewed these clothes and hand-dyed each piece using Shibori techniques.
Natural dyes work best on natural fibers, so I sewed these clothes using lightweight 100% cotton knits and muslin. I drafted the sewing patterns for each piece of clothing. I dyed the clothes in an indigo bath using Shibori folding, weaving, and binding techniques. Shibori is an ancient Japanese method if resist dying, which has influenced modern tie-dye. Indigo is a natural, plant-based dye that is commonly used for Shibori.
