I have used Bernat Velvet yarn for several clothing projects and for a huge blanket. This yarn is extremely soft and comes in nice colors. However, it is difficult to use, expensive, and it is not machine washable. I made a giant bedspread blanket out of this yarn and machine-washed it on delicate one time, and it was completely ruined. Even though I had crocheted it with a tight stitch, it wormed badly when I washed it. It was fun to try this yarn, but overall the difficulty of washing the project is too frustrating, so I do not plan to buy this yarn again.
Pros:
-soft yarn
-pretty colors and nice texture
Cons:
-expensive
-not machine washable, and difficult to hand-wash
-slippery and difficult to use for crocheting
I have bought this yarn from Michaels and Joanns. Here is the info about the yarn from Michaels:
